The Chinese fishing nets, the cheena vala, are the emblem of the Kochi coast: great cantilevers of wood and rope that dip into the water and rise again with the catch. At Ezhikkara, among the lagoons north of the city, the fishing community has made them the setting for a very special evening.

You cross the lagoon in a punted boat, then dine on the net itself, with home-style dishes, fish or vegetarian. The project helps the families adapt to a changing climate and a changing sea.
